Handbuilding with grogged clay
This workshop is not about perfect symmetry. It is about texture, weight, and the quiet strength of raw material.
In this two-hour session, we will handbuild a rustic bowl using heavily grogged clay. This clay contains large chamotte particles, giving it a rough, sandy texture and a strong, earthy character. It is rarely offered in workshops, yet it creates pieces with depth, structure and a beautiful natural surface.
You will shape your bowl by hand, embracing irregular edges and tactile surfaces. No pottery wheel. No pressure to make it flawless. The focus is on form, touch and material.
What makes this workshop special
• We work with coarse grogged clay that feels powerful and grounding
• You learn handbuilding techniques that highlight texture rather than hide it
• Small group setting for personal guidance
• Calm, cozy atmosphere
After the workshop, your bowl will dry and be fired twice. It will be ready for pickup in about three to four weeks.
No prior experience is needed. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who want to explore a more raw and expressive approach to ceramics.
